Common ling (Molva molva)

Along Ling is common along the Norwegian Sea shelf, ling is common from the Shetlands to the south-western part of the Barents Sea. Young fish commonly occur in quite shallow waters along the coast or on offshore banks, for instance in the northern part of the North Sea. Ling is mainly caught with longline or net along the continental slope, but also in deep waters in the fjords. Ling fishery takes place all year round, also as bycatch.
